Weapon Light

A weapon light is designed to allow you to see your target and can fit a wide range of firearms. They’re sometimes called weapon lights, weapon-mounted lights, weapon-mounted flashlights, military weapon lights or tactical lights for guns. Either way, weapon lights can securely fit both compact guns and full-sized rifles or shotguns and can light up your target. They can provide shock-proof and powerful LED light for hours of continuous use. Weapon lights are small enough to store in your gun safe or gun case for safekeeping.

A weapon light is just as important as having a powerful tactical flashlight on you at all times.

There are a number of brands that manufacture weapon lights that have features such as strobe light, rail clamps to secure your light and concentrated beams to illuminate your target. Many options have waterproof features and customization available.

There are numerous benefits to installing a weapon light onto your firearms. You won’t have to hold a flashlight with your other hand for handguns and they make it easier to shine a light on your target while using a rifle.

Weapon lights allow you to reach out and light targets up while in the woods at night or for other tactical applications. You can literally blind intruders just by using a powerful weapon light. Most intruders freeze when they see the flashlight and a weapon light allows you to blind them while holding them until law enforcement arrives or until your family retreats to safety. You can also move faster and more efficiently since you aren’t worrying about aiming your flashlight at the same time. Weapon lights streamline your aim and allow you to be more effective.

Weapon Mounted Light

Weapon-mounted lights come in all shapes, sizes and configurations. You can basically get a weapon-mounted light to fit any type of handgun, rifle or shotgun. Many weapon-mounted lights have additional features such as lasers that take the guesswork out of aiming and increase your accuracy.

Here are a Few Reasons to Own a Weapon Light:

  1. Weapon lights allow you to see your target better.
  2. They improve your aim and consistency.
  3. They help you see targets in the woods better.
  4. Weapon lights make it easier to shine a light while operating your firearm.

Here are the best weapon lights on the market.

Olight Baldr S BL Weapon Light

The Olight Baldr S BL weapon light is a great addition to Olight’s line of weapon lights. This model features a blue beam and white LED combo that’s extremely powerful and improves your accuracy. This Olight weapon light produces a white light that can reach 800 lumens and light up your target. You can use the Olight Baldr S BL during the day or at night for aiming assistance and to ensure you hit your target.

Many users prefer the blue light versus other colors because it’s brighter than red light and may work better than a green light in close quarters.

This weapon light by Olight is powered by a strong 3.7V 380mAh rechargeable lithium-polymer battery that’s long-lasting and gives you plenty of power. It can recharge in approximately 80 minutes or less for a full charge to have you up and running again. It comes with a USB with a magnetized connector to keep your weapon light charged and ready to use and you can squeeze around 140 minutes of light on the 100-Lumens setting. The Baldr S BL produces around 33% more white light than the Olight Baldr Mini and also has a low-power mode that you can use inside buildings.

One feature we like about the Olight Baldr S BL is that you can choose between various settings depending on your mission such as blue light beam only, white light only or use both at the same time. You can also install this weapon light with the included Picatinny and Glock rail inserts for a perfect fit every time. This is one of our favorite weapon lights to date due to the craftsmanship and quality that Olight puts into its products. You can check out powerful Olight flashlights HERE.

I received one of these from Olight the day it came out and couldn’t wait for the sun to go down so I could test it out. It worked exactly how I had hoped and lit up the backyard so that I could see everything! The blue light is easy on the eyes and the white light is super bright and can easily blind an attacker. I highly recommend the Olight Baldr S BL for anyone looking for a new weapon light.

It has plenty of lumens to light up your target and the throw is commendable. I really like how smooth the activation switches work and it’s they’re super easy to use.

What we didn’t like:

I have a box of Olight chargers but noticed this charger only works for the Olight Baldr Mini. It would be nice if all Olight chargers worked on every product, but that’s not necessarily a deal breaker since Olight makes great products.

Streamlight 69434 TLR-8A G Flex Rail-Mounted Tactical Light

The Streamlight weapon light produces a super-powerful 500-Lumens 140-meter beam that will illuminate your target and boasts approximately 1.5 hours of continuous use with the light/laser. You can run the 510-520nm green laser for around 11 hours continuously.

This rail-mounted tactical light is powered by one (1) CR123A lithium battery that not only lasts a long time, but is easy to find when it’s time to replace the battery. Utilize the ambidextrous on/off rear switch for more options. You can attach this gun-mounted tactical light to multiple types of firearms such as compact and full-sized guns. The machined aluminum construction ensures this product will last even through heavy-duty use or tactical applications where you need sturdy equipment.

The green laser is bright and gets the job done. It runs on the battery and is easily replaced without having to re-zero your laser. The strobe light is a great function to have and the longer switches allow you to activate the light/laser combo without releasing your grip.

Overall, the Streamlight TLR-8A G Flex is a great rail-mounted tactical light that has plenty of features and durability for tough missions.

What we like:

It made sense for me to choose this weapon light to test since I already own a wide selection of Streamlight products and I was thoroughly impressed with it. First, the light is extremely bright and lasts for 1.5 hours of continuous use. While that may not sound like a long time for a light, it would take me multiple uses to drain the battery since you normally use it for a very limited time such as sweeping your house at night. I found that the battery was easy to replace without too much work.

What we didn’t like:

You can always find something wrong with a product if you look hard enough and the only issue I had with the Streamlight TLR-8A was that I could never tell when the battery was low. This would probably never really be an issue, but something I wanted to point out.

Pros

Cons

  • 1.5 hours of continuous use

  • Laser lasts 11 hours nonstop

  • Easy to replace battery

  • Ambidextrous switch

  • No low battery indication

Olight Odin GL M Tactical Flashlight

This weapon light features three selectable modes that allow you to quickly switch between white light and GL beam, GL beam only, or white light only depending on what you need at the time. It has a dual-button magnetic remote switch that gives you the option to switch between low or high output without letting go of your firearm.

We like the fact that the white LED light can burn up to 1,500 lumens and throw a beam up to 215 meters. The GL beam drastically improves your aim and can make all the difference in the world during an emergency situation. The GL beam has a 20-meter focal length and is easily visible in complete darkness or during daytime use. This tactical flashlight is designed for MLOK rails and is easy to install.

What we like:

I’m one of those people who hates charging devices but the Olight Odin’s magnetic charging is super easy and convenient. I have numerous Olight chargers at my charging station and it’s incredibly easy to keep this weapon light fully charged. I also like the reach of this light at 215 meters. That’s plenty for me.

It mounts to your gun and produces a bright white light that illuminates targets with ease. The light is blinding and powerful enough to stop a home invasion just by lighting them up with your light. It’s made from virtually indestructible materials that will last through rough terrain and missions. It can withstand bumps, knocks and drops without taking damage to the outer shell.

It’s made from rugged 6000 series machined aircraft aluminum and has an anodized finish which makes it both a tough and dependable tactical light. The glass lens is shock-mounted and produces a high-powered concentrated light beam that easily illuminates targets or intruders while maintaining peripheral illumination.

Many users compare the Streamlight TLR-1 to the SureFire X300 based on quality and performance. The Streamlight is substantially cheaper than the SureFire X300 and has comparable features.

The on/off strobe switch comes in handy when needed and you don’t have to continually readjust your grip to accommodate. You can easily blind everyone in a room if you use this indoors. Many people have used the blinding light of a gun-mounted tactical light to temporarily incapacitate intruders.

You can use this bright weapon light on multiple firearms and it doesn’t overweight the front of your handgun. It’s not heavy, doesn’t snag and puts out a great light. It has a great center spot while lighting up an area and you still have great peripheral lighting so you can cover yourself.

Olight PL-Mini 2 Valkyrie Weapon Light

The adjustable rail on the Olight PL-Mini 2 weapon light is a great feature that allows you to slide the adapter so you can attach the light in a position that’s specific to your firearm. This allows you to use it with more pistols and subcompacts. It throws a 600 lumens light that reaches 100 meters.

While smaller than mid-sized weapon lights, the Olight PL-Mini 2 is a great option for those who want a compact tactical gun light that still outperforms. You can charge this little beast by plugging it in using the magnetic USB cable. This is a handy option because you don’t need to remove the battery or plug into a port.

We like the fact that you can quickly install and remove this weapon light in a matter of seconds. It’s lightweight and doesn’t weigh your gun down and comes in multiple colors: desert tan, OD green and black.

What we like:

I picked up this gun light for under $100 and it has been an important part of my collection. It is built tough and can be installed in 1 second! I like how easy it is to charge with the included magnetic charging cable.

What we didn’t like:

I like how it can be charged with a wall charger, but also dislike how it doesn’t take batteries. I guess you can’t have it both ways, but there are times when you don’t have time to wait for a charge and a battery would be more convenient.

Pros

Cons

  • Under $100

  • Rugged design

  • Easy to charge

  • Install in 1 second

  • Doesn't take batteries

Pros

Cons

  • Easily switch modes

  • Strobe function

  • Safety lever

  • Battery drain
