A dependable flashlight is one of the most important things you can have. No matter where you go, there’s always a chance you will need light. The MPOWERD Luci Beam is a 2-in-1 headlamp and flashlight combo that can handle any situation you may encounter. I’ve had the pleasure of testing the Luci Beam and was blown away at how functional this solar-powered flashlight can be.

I have a large collection of flashlights of all types, sizes, and strengths, but can say without a doubt that the Luci Beam can replace the majority of them due to the many lighting options it provides. First, it has a solar-powered flashlight that’s incredibly bright and long-lasting. You can charge it with a plugin or use solar panels. Next, it functions as a headlamp that detaches from the body and fit on your head for hands-free use. It’s adjustable and features a tilt that lets you clearly see what you’re working on.

Here are a few of the major features of the Luci Beam:

MPOWERD Luci Beam EDC flashlight

2-in-1 headlamp and flashlight.

One of my favorite characteristics of this flashlight is its ability to switch from a flashlight to a headlamp within seconds. It uses magnets to keep the headlamp on the flashlight and it is incredibly easy to transition to headlamp mode. Simply pull the headlamp from the flashlight and slip the adjustable band over your head. The magnets are powerful enough to keep them together but easy enough to quickly remove when you need to use your hands.

Solar power light.

The Luci Beam is rechargeable via solar or USB. You may notice that USB charges the flashlight substantially faster than the solar panel, but it’s good to have a backup way to charge it in case the electricity goes out. You can attach this EDC flashlight to your backpack and charge it while you hike. Personally, I always try to buy outdoor gear that has solar power options.

Lasts up to 30 hours on a single charge.

You can get multiple uses from a single charge from the Luci Beam. I usually only use a flashlight for a short amount of time each night so 30 hours last a long time. A long-lasting flashlight should be your number one priority when camping, hiking, RVing, hunting, boating, or traveling any amount of distance because anything can happen.

Waterproof body.

All of your flashlights should be waterproof or at least water-resistant. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to use a flashlight in the rain while setting up camp. Regular flashlights get destroyed pretty quickly if you let them get wet. The Luci Beam is rated IPX4 in water resistance. You can use the handy strap when you cross a body of water to make sure it stays on your arm, but we will talk about that feature next.

Dual-use strap.

The strap is designed to secure your headlamp to your head and makes a convenient flashlight wrist strap to keep it attached while you work. It’s easy to drop your flashlight if it’s not secured to your wrist, especially if you’re moving or walking in the dark. The wrist strap really comes in handy when setting up camp.

Adjustable 90-degree tilt – headlamp.

I’ve owned tons of headlamps that were stuck in place with a beam that shoots straight ahead. The Luci Beam is adjustable which gives you even more control over your headlamp and allows you to see things better versus a fixed headlamp. I personally use the adjustable option every single night when I check on the animals outside and take out the trash.

7 flashlight modes.

This 2-in-1 headlamp and flashlight combo feature 7 flashlight modes that serve a ton of uses. These include: low, medium, high, flashing on white + low, high, and flashing on red. You can quickly cycle through the modes to choose the one you need. The red light is great to have for hunting purposes. The low mode usually has plenty of light for what I use, but it’s good to have multiple options.

Perfect for your 72-hour kit or bug-out bag.

A good flashlight is one of the top 3 items you need to have in your 72-hour survival kit or bug-out bag at all times. I like the Luci Beam for my bags because it lasts a long time and you can charge it in the sunlight even if the electricity goes out. The headlamp option is perfect for emergency situations where you may need to travel at night or for search and rescue missions.

Our Take

The Luci Beam 2-in-1 headlamp and flashlight immediately became one of my favorite flashlights. It’s definitely the one that I use the most due to the headlamp feature. I like having my hands free and being able to use tools at night the headlamp is perfect for those applications. I also like the fact that you can get a charge on a sunny day to give you extra power that can be used in emergency situations. The dual-use strap has been a lifesaver on more than one occasion and kept the flashlight attached to my wrist. I highly recommend the Luci Beam to anyone that wants a dependable flashlight/headlamp combo that has tons of useful features.
