Best Neck Gaiters for All Seasons for Men, Women & Kids

SITKA Gear winter neck gaiter for hunting

What is the purpose of neck gaiters?

A neck gaiter is a piece of clothing worn around your neck to protect against wind chill. It helps prevent heat loss by trapping air between the skin and the outer layer of clothing which keeps you warmer than wearing just an undershirt alone. They’re great for hunting in cold weather or fishing in hot weather. A good neck gaiter will also keep out sand, wind, dirt, and other harmful substances while you’re outside. If you’re like me and hate freezing cold weather, a neck gaiter can be a lifesaver. Even though I keep a beard year-round, I’m not used to the cold and use these to keep my face and neck warm.

The best thing about neck gaiter is that it doesn’t restrict movement at all. You can still move your arms freely without having to worry about getting cold. A neck gaiter is essential during the winter season because it prevents heat loss from the body. I’ve used them for hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and working outside to retain as much heat as possible. Pair your neck gaiter with warm gloves and a hat and you can stay outside for longer periods of time.

Warm-weather neck gaiters excel at keeping your mouth and nose protected while you work in the yard or cut grass. Especially if you have allergies.

The best neck gaiter winter wear for cold weather.

A neck gaiter is an easy way to keep warm during cold weather. It’s also a stylish accessory that will make you stand out in any crowd. You want to make sure you find one that’s made from high-quality materials and will give you extra protection from cold weather.

There are many different styles available, from simple designs to neck gators that can keep you warm during extremely cold weather. Whatever style you decide to go with, there’s one thing that’s certain: a neck gaiter is a versatile piece of clothing that can be worn year-round.

How to wear a neck gaiter.

There are multiple ways to wear a neck gaiter depending on your activity. You can wear them around your neck, use them as a face mask, put it on top of your head like a beanie, or as a balaclava. You can even use it as a headband to keep your hair out of your eyes. I already wear a warm hat that pulls over my ears so I prefer to wear my neck gaiters around my neck for extra warmth.

Keeps you warm while hunting, fishing and camping.

A neck gaiter keeps you warm when you’re outdoors. They’re made with breathable fabrics so you won’t feel hot or sweaty. They come in different styles and colors so you can choose one that matches your outfit or your camo to help blend. Many hunters swear by neck gaiters and always wear them while on the deer stand or blind. It’s important to retain your body head and you can lose a lot of it while sitting in one place for hours on end. A high-quality hunting neck gaiter will keep you substantially warmer.

The best thing about wearing a neck gaiter is that it doesn’t restrict movement or make a sound, which is important while in the woods. You can move around freely without feeling restricted. If you’re going to be outside for long periods of time, then a neck gaiter is a must.

Neck Gaiters protect you from the sun.

Neck gaiters can be used during the summer to protect you from sunlight and to protect your skin. Summer wear neck gaiters are made from thin material that can stretch to cover your neck and face. Sitting or working in the sun for hours can damage your skin and even cause cancer if you aren’t careful. A thin neck gaiter can give you the protection you need while in the sun such as fishing or working in the yard.

The Nomad Harvester neck gaiter is extremely well-made and will keep you warm even in freezing temperatures. It’s made with 100% polyester and features a thick sherpa lining that feels amazing against your neck and face. It doesn’t restrict your movements which is important while hunting or fishing. You can keep your ears warm and still hear game in the woods. Some neck gaiters are too tight and can press hard against your face, but the Nomad is designed for comfort. The Nomad neck gaiter comes in 4 designs: Blaze, Mossy Oak Droptine Camo, Mossy Oak Migrate Camo, and Realtree Timber Camo.

KastKing Sol Armis Neck Gaiter

Neck gaiters are also great to keep the sun off of your face and neck. The KastKing is a highly-efficient fishing neck gaiter that offers UPF 50 sun protection to keep you from getting burned while on the water. It’s made with breathable poly-spandex material that will keep you cool in blisteringly hot weather and it can be worn 13 different ways. It’s stretchy thanks to the 4-way stretch material so you won’t feel restricted. If you’re looking for the perfect fishing neck gaiter we highly suggest checking this one out.

What we like:

The KastKing Sol Armis neck gaiters provide the ultimate protection against harmful sun rays. If you’re like me and spend hours each day in direct sun then you need to take care of your skin. Hot-weather neck gaiters are the perfect choice to protect yourself while fishing, boating or working in the sun and heat. You need breathable material and this neck gaiter is made with stretchy material that allows you to move around. I wear these often to help prevent skin cancer and extreme sunburns because I often forget how long I’ve been in the sun.

What we didn’t like:

No product is perfect and I did find a few minor issues while using the KastKing neck gaiters. They tend to slip off occasionally and may be big for some users. I have a large face and didn’t really have that issue but can see how it could be a problem for some. I did have to readjust often, especially on days when I moved around a lot. To me, it was a minor inconvenience, but I allowed others to try it out and they mentioned that it does slip off due to being too stretchy.

Our Recommendation:

Overall, this is a great product to use during hot weather to protect yourself. While not perfect, it provides ample protection from harmful UV rays and helps to keep you cool. Also, the price is affordable and I was able to pick up a handful of these for under $10 each.

Cons

  • Can be worn 13 different ways

  • Great for fishing or boating
