Yeti Tundra Haul Review

Yeti Tundra Haul with wheels camping cooler

The Yeti Tundra Haul may be the best thing on wheels this summer

Yeti is easily one of the most recognizable outdoor brands that you will come across on a hot summer day and for good reason: they make incredibly tough and efficient coolers that can retain ice for days. In fact, Yeti coolers are so tough they’re even bear-proof! It’s doubtful that you will ever need that feature, but it’s a testament to the ruggedness of Yeti coolers.

While they do an excellent job at keeping your food and drinks cold, Yeti coolers can get quite heavy, especially the larger models. Thankfully, Yeti put wheels and a sturdy handle on their best-selling hard cooler, the Tundra Haul. This was a huge factor for me even though I’m large and used to carrying heavy weight, it’s easy to overload yourself especially when dragging beach gear across blazing hot sand. A full-size Yeti hard cooler filled with ice, beer and food can resurrect those old back injuries if you’re not careful. For example, the Tundra 65 takes 2 people to carry, which could be a problem if you’re by yourself or taking the family to the beach. Wheels are always appreciated on a hard cooler, especially large, NeverFlat wheels like they put on the Tundra Haul.

Designed for the rugged outdoors, the Yeti Tundra Haul wheeled hard cooler is money well-spent!

If you’re in the market for a new cooler, it’s always a good idea to write out a pros and cons list to ensure you find the best hard cooler that fits your lifestyle. Yeti makes a wide variety of hard coolers, soft coolers and even backpack coolers, so you have plenty to choose from. While Yeti products may be on the expensive side of the spectrum, you definitely get what you pay for in terms of durabilty, reliability and with the Yeti Haul – portability.

The wheels can be used anywhere

While wheels on a cooler sound great, some hard coolers use cheap wheels that break and aren’t rated for much weight or leave marks on your flooring. That issue doesn’t exist with the Tundra Haul due to Yeti’s tires. Not only are they impossible to flatten, they’re non-marring and won’t leave marks. Feel free to pull them along rough terrain, rocky roads, nasty trails, wood flooring and even sand. While you may have a tough time dragging it across the beach, it sure beats lugging it by hand.

Our favorite features

There’s plenty to love about the Yeti Tundra Haul. First, Yeti did an amazing job by installing big, NeverFlat wheels to an already amazing hard cooler. I’ve nearly stroked out lugging huge coolers and the kids’ beach toys across barren wastelands called beaches in my younger days. I’m no longer in my prime and simply can’t risk injuring myself by carrying the Yeti Tundra 65 by myself. Portability was the main selling point for me when looking at the Yeti Tundra Haul. I was already impressed by the Tundra and adding wheels just made it that much more impressive.

Next, the available space inside this cooler is simply amazing. It’s plenty for a large family or gathering of friends that enjoy plenty of cold beer. Storage space is always a huge factor when it comes to choosing the best camping cooler. I have a large family that requires a wide variety of drinks such as juice boxes, bottled water, beer and sodas so I needed something quite large, but not too big or I would have wasted space.

The rotomolded construction makes the Tundra Haul built like a tank and nearly impossible to break through normal use. In fact, you could probably pass this cooler down to your children – it’s that tough!

If you’re looking for a smaller wheeled cooler, check out the Haul’s smaller cousin – the Yeti Roadie 48 Wheeled Cooler!

Our Take

The Yeti Tundra Haul hard cooler with wheels is a must-buy for this summer. It has everything you need and then some. Sure, you’ll pay a premium price for this cooler, but it could actually save you money in the long run because you won’t have to continue to replace cheap coolers that aren’t built tough enough like the Tundra Haul.
